chasethewind > Lacrosse! (4-23-2008)

I LOVE LACROSSE! I know that it's frequently seen as a northern sport for prep school kids, but I went to public school in the south and I played this fantastic sport. It's action-packed. Last night, I saw an awesome game of Hofstra and SUNY Stony Brook on the local station. It was a quintessential rivalry game; hard-checking, fast paced, high scoring, and emotions hightened game. I'm hoping the Great Danes do well in the American East Tourney. This was taken in March, as seen by the snow in the background.... Try to find a game near you and see what you think. Well, keep shooting.
chasethewind > Joe conquers Syracuse (4-28-2008)

So, I was in Syracuse this past weekend to help my close friend, Joe, visit Syracuse University and find an apartment. He and his wife, are going to be moving there in a little over a month as he will be starting graduate school at the Newhouse School of Public Communication. It's funny, really, because apparently its a very prestigious school and neither Joe or I knew that it had such a reputation. I am completely jealous, by the way, because he will be going to study photography. This weekend was the graduate preview and I got to pretend like I was a prospective student. I talked to the professors about the program; I tried to take in as much about the program as possible. I know there's no shot of me going there any time in the near future (with a pending home purchase, and a budding career), but I thought I could get some ideas for avenues to pursue in my photographic journeys. I am supremely excited that Joe and Sara are moving to upstate NY. I have really missed being on the same coast as them, let alone the same state. Well, there's always more I could say, but I must head off to bed. Keep on shooting. (Joe and I will)
chasethewind > Mi Hermano (5-7-2008)

Yet another photo from the roll of 120 I just scanned. This is a picture of my bro when Amanda and I surprised him on his surprise birthday party in New York City. He had never been before and it was great to see him. It was cool just for it to be a small group roaming around 'the city that never sleeps'. We even got to go to Spamalot! Pretty hilarious. Another major event was going to B&H Photo Video for the first time. That was a complete madhouse. I was not totally prepared for that. People everywhere. Having to take a number just to ask a question about equipment. Conveyors running from the departments to the checkout. It was definitely an interesting experience. If you can, I would suggest going on a weekday. Well, I'm getting ready for a frenzy of cleaning and packing as we (hopefully) have our closing on our house next week. I'm excited about the responsibility, and at the same time terrified of the subsequent bills. If you'd like to help us move, please let me know via a comment on this page, a phone call, or e-mail. Alright, keep shooting.
chasethewind > Windmill Burning anyone... (5-10-2008)

In rural communities, people get together to have a barn raising. Here in Albany, at the Tulip Festival, we decided that a good ole fashion windmill burning was the way to go. I'm just not sure that this is the way to show Albany's dutch heritage (said with a hint of sarcasm). As you can see from the photos, on the inside of the windmill was a 15 foot metal tulip. Definitely an interesting presentation. Well, today was eventful. Went to a friend's house this morning to take pictures for their horse ranch that they're starting and then went to the tulip festival. You'll definitely see some of these pictures in the next week or so. Keep shooting.
chasethewind > Brenda (5-7-2008)

Another picture from a roll of 120 that I scanned this past weekend, this is a picture of a new friend of mine, Brenda. She works for a company that I worked with for a week in December. We worked outside in the cold for an entire week and it was a blessing that she was a pleasure to work with. When you're out in the field, you really hope for someone you can actually be personable with for an entire day, much less an entire week. She exceeded my hopes. She was friendly, open, and generous. You could tell that she cares deeply about her community and her family. A model citizen. We never had a time where we didn't have an interesting conversation about something. Thanks, again, Brenda. For everyone else, keep shooting and take a second to learn one new thing about someone around you.
chasethewind > Kevin (5-5-2008)

So, this past weekend I scanned a couple rolls of 120 film. They were recently taken from my Mamiya 6 IV folder. I've noticed that my scanner has been giving me considerable dust on the scans. I've also noticed that the cheap sleeves that Fuji puts 120 film are not the best way to store the negatives. One piece of advise for those of you who enjoy shooting film like I do: Invest in some nice negative sheets or some other protection. These are not your grandfather's negatives that could take a beating and still give a decent print. You really do have to take care of them. I'm trying to learn that lesson. Hopefully, by the time I can sell my Mamiya and get a Hasselblad....(fingers crossed), I will have a decent system. Well, that's about it. This is another picture of Kevin on my Mamiya with Ilford Delta 400 film. Taken in the quaint village of Gilbertsville, NY. Keep on shooting.
chasethewind > Overnight (4-29-2008)

I don't know about you, but when I got back from Syracuse the trees were in full leaf-out, the flowers were popping with their once-hidden splendor. It seemed to happen overnight. It's amazing how quickly nature reacts to the weather. Get out and enjoy it wherever you are! Tulip festival is less than two weeks away (May 9-11). Maybe I'll see you there. Keep on shooting!
chasethewind > I'm laughing at you, Internet! (1-28-2008)

HA! I dare you to defy me, Internet! You've been pestering me too long... This is a friend of mine that was not prepared for the slow rear-sync flash. GOTCHA! While this was taken a few months ago, I thought the emotion evoked hear was apropos to the beginning of my photoblog. I'm excited to start this website! I hope you enjoy what you see.
