chasethewind > Calm Harbor (7-25-2008)

In the midst of Charleston, SC is this christian sanctuary. Set at what appears to be an old pier now sits a cross. Not nearly as large or cumbersome as the cross that Christ bore for us, but the site of it is burdensome enough to remind us of the price that God had to pay to save us. God is just and while there is no authority over Him, He cannot overlook our sin solely that would all be in Heaven. He is just. And in the same respect, He is loving. He loves us enough to have come to this earth and die for us. Maybe you believe it was just a symbolic action (since Christ was then resurrected), but it was a symbolic action that we can understand.
chasethewind > Emmy Smile (7-31-2008)

During the madness that was Lace's wedding, people knew that they could be photographed at any time. This was especially true when they saw the three-eyed freak...(That's me with a camera)...This was no less true when I got this candid of Emmy who was not feeling well but mustered enough energy to give me a bright smile. She's very photogenic, for sure. Thanks, Emmy. Taken with my D80. Keep shooting everyone.
chasethewind > "Spontaneous Picture" (7-29-2008)

You know....I love taking pictures. Taken with my D80 in an attempt to take a 'different' kind of portrait for the church website. I liked this better. And actually, J. has a great smile in this one.
chasethewind > Local Lines (10-1-2008)

While we were in San Antonio, I took some pictures of this fence surrounding a closed pool. I called it 'Local Lines' because the fence was just across the street from Amanda's dad's townhouse. Why do people take pictures like this (myself included)? I think for me, it's the linearity of the subject, it's the colors; It almost gives a rustic feel to the photo...Maybe it's a way for me express my longing for the days gone by. Why do people get so nostalgic about the past, even past they may have never experienced? I know in my mind that the past was just as difficult as the present, just with different hurdles, different challenges, different obstacles. But even still, I idealize the past as a time of simplicity and caring for your neighbor. I should think more about how blessed I am now and how to bring that ideology to these times, than to pine for days long since past. Keep shooting, everyone.
chasethewind > Tips anyone (8-5-2008)

Don't you feel like asking for a tip to take a picture for a group of tourists? I'm glad you don't...neither do I...
chasethewind > Happy Birthday, Joe! (8-14-2008)

Happy 25th Birthday, Joe! I know Joe has appeared in a few of my pictures already, but since it's his birthday, I wanted to show some of these delightful, festive pastries. Congratulatulations on another successful year of life, Joe. You're a good friend, who has a special spot in my life. You're a generous and thoughtful person that people can really learn how life should be lived. You're creative and encouraging. You have a strong bond with your family that any person envies. I'm glad that I can call you friend, and I hope for many years of friendship together.
chasethewind > Kelvin (8-18-2008)

Here's another picture of my friend Kelvin. I think people around here are warming up to the fact that I take a lot of pictures, and they're usually the subjects. It makes it much easier to take candid shots that way. This was taken with my D80. Keep shooting.
chasethewind > Stake & Rake Flowers (8-12-2008)

Taken while working at my church's annual beautification work day/barbecue. Who doesn't love bright blue paint and a juicy hamburger?(sorry vegetarian and vegans, I love a good piece of meat)... At any rate, this was a quick snapshot of the church's flowers at the entrance. Lots of people showed up to make this day a success. I was part of the team that painted the men's bathroom "secure blue". I think it should have been named "Blue-Man-Group Blue", though. That's how bright it was. Most people had a funny reaction to it when they saw it (like something out of 'Candid Camera'), but I think it will look nice once there's some art hung on the walls. I know Gareth has something good planned. Taken with my D80. Keep Shooting.
chasethewind > Lilu (8-11-2008)

Finally!! A picture of our rotund cat. I would like to note, however, she is extremely cute. This picture does not completely do her justice, but is merely a sample of the abundant pictures I do take of her. She's mild-mannered, sweet and doesn't eat people food. We've been trying to cut back on how much we are feeding her. We've been blaming an identifiable thyroid problem, but I think the true blame goes no further than Amanda and I. Well, anyway, this was taken with my D80 in the sunny morning light as it beamed through our front window. Keep shooting.
